Using this unique idea Silhouette has invited key leaders from the design and creative industries, each with their own signature style, to work with Silhouette’s designers and style experts to create their own Titan Minimal Art. The results are as beautiful as they are eclectic as they have each designed eyewear that is as distinctive and unique as they are.

Becoming an eyewear designer for a day has allowed our team to design their own Titan Minimal Art. The personalized lens shapes, colours and sizes are unique; they have created their very own “My Silhouette”. And “My Silhouette” will be available to all in the future.

What do you think about the “My Silhouette” project? Would you love to be a designer for the day and create your own Titan Minimal Art?

The company, established in 1964, produces the lightest eyewear in the world, working with a high degree of hands-on craftsmanship, meticulous attention to detail and continuous quality control. Its frames are made using the highest quality titanium, a material known for its revolutionary lightness, cool solidity and maximum flexibility.

Silhouette totally revolutionised the market in 1999 with its ‘Titan Minimal Art’, a model free of screws, hinges and rims weighing just 1.8g. With its rimless design, Silhouette offers glasses wearers the opportunity of creating tailored eyewear, with each temple design being able to be combined with virtually an endless choice of ready-made lens shapes – or even bespoke lenses. Now the company is inviting creative spectacle wearers the world over to make their own ‘Titan Minimal Art’ models.

Wallpaper* immediately thought of StokkeAustad for this project. The Norwegian outfit is all about function, cost-efficiency and environmentally sound aesthetics. ‘Our mantra is that we always try to seek out the essence of what a project is about, from the purely formal to the very functional. You can say that design is a problem-solving activity, but beyond this we believe design is about creating value and ultimately bringing the world forward.’

With this mantra in mind, Stokke adapted the lens contour of his spectacles to a round, collegiate shape to suit his face and added a gold-tinged hue to the crystal, while Austad required carbon sunglasses with black aviator lenses. We’ll definitely be making passes in these glasses this summer.

Titan Minimal Art – The Icon came out a winner among the large number of applicants for the red dot award 2013. Ai due ambassador, il compito di valutare i lavori realizzati dai “light artist”, per decretare, alla fine, la migliore espressione del valore di leggerezza.

Parola d’ordine: autenticità senza mascheramenti, creare qualcosa di unico e senza tempo.

Patrick Dempsey and his new eyewear, the icon of rimless eyewear, were presented and celebrated during the MIDO in Milan from 2-4 March 2013. Some 500 customers from around the world were just as enthusiastic as the 100 international journalists who attended the exciting presentation.

Hollywood icon Patrick Dempsey was also enthused, emphasizing time and again: “The Titan Minimal Art. The Icon. is comfortable, light and stylish. I like my eyewear.”

The creative process in Linz where Hywel Davies designed his exclusive Titan Minimal Art in Linz proved that being demanding is fun, too.

“Eyewear is an essential side of my image and an important factor for defining my style. The challenges are simple -- eyewear must be stylish, practical, aesthetically designed and functional.”

The lightness of my Silhouettes is liberating for me when I play. My eyesight is dreadful, which is why I have to rely on my eyewear. Music and the stage demand extreme concentration and physical exertion. When you sweat, eyewear sometimes begins to slip -- but this never happens with my Silhouettes, which allow me to see perfectly all the time. I can’t even feel my Silhouettes. They make sure that work doesn’t weigh me down -- in the operative sense of the word!

Die Viennale richtet traditionell keinen Wettbewerb aus, vergibt am Ende aber dennoch einige Preise -- unter anderem für die besten österreichischen Filme des vergangenen Jahres. Diese waren 2012 Haneke’s “Amour” und  die Friedrichshof-Doku “Meine Keine Familie” von Paul-Julien Robert.

Silhouette war ständiger Begleiter der Schauspieler und Regisseure  während des Filmfestivals. Im Facebook Fotoalbum sehen Sie die VIP-Gäste mir ihren Silhouette-Lieblingsshapes.

Auch Georg, Jessica und Oliver haben wir auf der Viennale angetroffen und zur ihrem Style, Silhouette Brillen und ihren “lite” Lebensstil befragt.

Bei dem Photowalk entstanden rund 200 interessante Fotos, die Instagram-User unter dem Hashtag #silhouetteinstawalk im Instagram-Viewer Statigram oder direkt auf der Silhouette Instagram Page finden. Für alle Pinterest User gibt es eine Auswahl an Bildern im Album Silhouette Instawalk 360 zu sehen.

Zudem wurde auch ein Gewinnerbild von unserem Viennale Gastblogger Stefan Rybkowski ausgewählt. Das Foto von von Nina Mica (@ninshaa) ist unser Favorit.

Silhouette ritorna a mettere al centro il prodotto, la qualità e il cliente Partner: al via un programma di visite al proprio quartier generale a Linz in Austria.

Il tour della produzione rappresenta un’occasione importante per sottolineare agli ottici l’affidabilità del brand e dei prodotti, oltre che per rafforzare il rapporto di fiducia reciproca con i suoi clienti.

Il primo di una serie di viaggi a Linz si è svolto a settembre e ha coinvolto alcuni Partner di Puglia, Sicilia, Toscana e Lazio. Tre giorni vissuti con stimolanti attività: visita della produzione e momenti di divertimento come la visita guidata a Salisburgo e l’immancabile passeggiata in riva al Danubio.

La visita guidata alla produzione è stata il cuore del programma. I clienti hanno potuto vivere e constatare la cultura del dettaglio e della qualità Silhouette, seguendo una produzione di oltre 200 fasi di cui la maggior parte artigianali.

Accolti dal direttore vendite internazionale Gregor Dietachmayr e dell’area manager centro-sud Europa Bettina Lagler, entusiasmante è stato il dibattito aperto e franco con il direttore tecnico del gruppo Rupert Spindelbalker.

La prossima partenza per Linz è prevista per questo mese.

“Of all the gin joints in all the towns in all the world, she walks into mine!“, echauffiert sich Humphrey Bogart in Casablanca – mein Lieblingszitat aus einem meiner Lieblingsfilme – als er erfährt, dass Ingrid Bergman nach Marokko gekommen ist. Ich habe nicht unbedingt geflucht als ich erfahren habe, dass ich in diesem Jahr der Viennale-Blogger von Silhouette sein werde, im Gegenteil. Ich heiße Stefan Rybkowski, bin just 27 Jahre alt geworden und wohne in der Nähe von Stuttgart. Seit über fünf Jahren bringe ich meine Gedanken im Film- und Medienblog Equilibrium zu „Papier“.

Warum dieser Blog? Nun, die Antwort liegt auf der Hand, denn ich habe nicht nur eine Vorliebe für alles rund um das Thema Film, sondern auch für das Bloggen selbst. Im letzten Jahr habe ich von der Berlinale berichtet, dieses Jahr nun von der Viennale, auf die mich Silhouette eingeladen hat. Silhouette und ich haben dabei eines gemeinsam: Es ist unsere erste Viennale – für mich als Blogger und Besucher, für Silhouette als Partner der Viennale. Das Gleiche gilt für die Stadt, die das Festival ausrichtet, denn ich muss zu meiner Schande gestehen, dass ich noch nie in der österreichischen Hauptstadt zu Besuch war. Umso mehr freue ich mich also auf einige spannende Tage in Wien – mit hoffentlich vielen guten Filmen, schönen Einblicken in das Wiener Stadtleben und der einen oder anderen Wiener Melange.

Am Silhouette Stand ging es hoch her – die Gäste zeigten sich begeistert von der Unterschriften-Aktion auf dem überdimensionalen Silhouette Brillentuch. Aber auch die neue Sonnenbrillen Kollektion 2013 des Brillenspeziallisten wurden geschätzt und getestet: „Ultra-leicht“, „sitzt perfekt“ oder auch „einfach schön“ waren die Kommentare der VIPs, die die Brillen als erste – eine Preview auf die Kollektion, die ab Januar 2013 erhältlich sein wird – probieren durften und sichtlich Spaß dabei hatten. Die Stars nutzten den Gala Abend nicht nur,  um die neuen Sonnenbrillen zu probieren, sondern vor allem, um Gutes zu tun.

Hinsehen und Helfen
Unter dem Motto „Hinsehen und Helfen“ engagiert sich Silhouette neben der Spendengala gemeinsam mit Augenoptikern in ganz Deutschland bei TRIBUTE TO BAMBI zugunsten hilfsbedürftiger Kinder in Deutschland. Dreh- und Angelpunkt der Silhouette Charity-Aktion ist natürlich eine Kinder-Brille. Von jeder in Deutschland verkauften Silhouette Kinderbrille SPX Art Kids gehen im Zeitraum von September bis November 2012 zehn Euro an TRIBUTE TO BAMBI.

Silhouette Instawalk 360 @ Viennale 2012
On the occasion of the Viennale, Silhouette is offering a “film-style” view of Vienna for Instagram fans. During the festival, on November 2^nd, from 3 to 6 pm, we will lead an Instawalk along locations from the film “360” (2011, Directed by Fernando Meirelles). Wir haben mit der Designerin Annette Kara alias anoka gesprochen, die das neue Brillentuch für Silhouette und die Charity-Initiative TRIBUTE TO BAMBI kreiert hat.

Liebe Annette, Traumberuf Designerin. Wie wird man das?
Die Frage was ich werden möchte, wenn ich groß bin, hat sich mir nie gestellt. Seit dem ich Stift, Pinsel und Schere halten kann, gestalte und male ich von klein auf. Erzählungen nach, habe ich als Kind anstatt einem Mittagsschläfchen zu halten, ein bis zwei Stunden gemalt, um mich aus zu ruhen. Danach war ich wieder fit und aufgeladen. Nach meinem Abschluss zur staatlich geprüften Grafikdesignerin an Johannes-Gutenberg-Schule in Stuttgart arbeitete ich einige Jahre als Grafikerin und Artdirektorin. 2007 entschied ich mich für die Selbständigkeit und gründete das anoka DESIGNSTUDIO.

Bist Du in jeder Lebenslage so kreativ? Auch privat im Alltag?
Natürlich ist man von früh bis spät Designer. Diese Berufsart wählt man nicht nur um seinen Lebensunterhalt zu verdienen, sondern weil man es liebt, zu gestalten und das auch gut kann. Das geht selbstverständlich über den Berufsalltag hinaus. Grundsätzlich interessiere ich mich für jede Art von Design und Gestaltung: Mode, Schmuck, Grafikdesign, Kunst aller Art aber auch Architektur, Möbeldesign und erfreue mich auch an einem hübsch verzierten Marzipantörtchen.

Du hast das neue Silhouette Brillentuch für TRIBUTE TO BAMBI – Hilfe für Kinder in Not kreiert. Wo lagen bei dieser Arbeit für Dich die Besonderheiten?
Wichtig ist bei dem Silhouette Brillentuch, dass das Motiv sowohl ins Auge sticht, als auch als modisches Accessoires funktioniert. Ein Tuch sollte nie als Werbe-Plattform wahrgenommen werden sondern als „Must-Have“ im Brillenetui oder der Handytasche. Natürlich stehen neben der Marke Silhouette besonders das Doppelreh und das Motto „HINSEHEN UND HELFEN“ im Vordergrund. Alle Komponenten und Botschaften galt es einzubinden und visuell zu vereinen. Dank unseres professionellen Partners für die Produktion lassen sich heute Stoffe auch sehr filigran mit feinen Details und in brillanten Farben bedrucken. Somit sind der Phantasie und Kreativität keine Grenzen gesetzt.

Woher nimmst Du Deine Inspiration?
Inspirationen findet man überall, wenn man gelernt hat aufmerksam hin zu sehen und diese zu verwerten. Sei es in der Natur, bei Recherchen im Internet, in Alltagsgegenständen oder der Fachliteratur. Wichtig finde ich aber auch immer den Austausch im Team und direkt mit dem Auftraggeber.

Silhouette’s history is recounted in Framed! with a feature on its launch in 1964 where Arnold and Anneliese Schmied founded the company with a vision of making people enjoy wearing glasses, a legacy which has continued through the companies’ 48 year history.

The exhibition also features catwalk collaborations and new experimental  prototypes  by some of fashion’s biggest players including Erderm, Giles, Alexandre Herchovitz and many more.
