And the New Vision Award goes to …

The 8th Crossing Europe Festival in Linz, Austria comes to it’s end – a perfect opportunity to summarize this exciting week! The festival itself (12th – 17th April 2011) exceeded expectations:
- A record number of visitors: roughly 19,000 festival guests, film and music lovers visited film screenings
- A highly attractive festival program: 160 hand-picked feature films, documentaries and short films
- Internationality: Films from 35 different countries; about 140 directors and film guests were present to personally present their films to the festival audience.
Silhouette was, for the first time, the sponsor of the film festival and sponsored the “The New Vision Award” valued at EUR 5,000.00. The jury chose one of the nine feature movies in the program category PANORAMA EUROPA FICTION, all of which excel through extraordinary performance in the visual area.
At the awards presentation held on Saturday evening, April 16th, in the OK Mediendeck “The New Visions Award” went to Beli Beli Svet/WHITE WHITE WORLD by Oleg Novković
Jury: Emilie Boucheteil (FR), Martin Gschlacht (AT), Silvia Schlagnitweit – Silhouette (AT)
The Jury Statement:
The staging in detail, coupled with a brilliant ensemble of actors, make the winning film a cinematic experience. The award goes to a drama of the present day, with an intensity reminiscent of a Greek tragedy, in addition to the skilled use of sung scenes, which makes it so compelling. Trailer
At this point Silhouette would like to thank our Twitterer-in-Residence Sara Vertongen from Belgium who joined us last week to report live about her film impressions. https://twitter.com/silhouette_swb Sara’s final entry is, in our opinion, a very nice one “The border didn’t cross us, we crossed the border…”. This statement could be seen as a synonym for the internationality of the films, the cooperation of many involved countries, the open mindedness about less popular, but excellent films, and also regarding the Silhouette Sponsorship. For Silhouette the cooperation with Crossing Europe was another way to live the claim “Seeing without boundaries”.
Thanks Sara for joining us!
We hope you liked our series of reports around this cooperation and we are happy to receive your feedback on Facebook or Twitter or directly at i.bauer@silhouette.com.
