Eyewear can also become a person’s trademark – unintentionally and without the wearer doing anything specific, simply thanks to its prominent position in the centre of the face.
Some 30 years ago, the monarch who is celebrating the diamond jubilee of her accession to the throne in 2012, wore Silhouette eyewear for the first time and some 14 years ago she finally found her favourite model and made it her trademark. Since then, this eyewear which is largely made by hand in Austria from a special polymer-composition, has accompanied the Queen everywhere.
The Monarch has ordered several pairs of her favourite style – and has done so for around 14 years, as she has remained loyal to her style and trademark. Even although she has since opted for two other styles of eyewear from Silhouette, she wears them less frequently than her trademark – model 1899.
